Beach it

I think the most exciting thing that has happened in the past week is that I secured housing for the Flordia trip next month. We will be staying in a fabulous 6 bedroom beach house, on which we got an awesome deal. It took 76 emails to figure out which one we wanted, but we'll be staying here:

I must admit I don't think any of us got much done at work Monday while we tried to figure this out - oh well. I'm excited to pretend I live here for a few days!

Other things that have happened:

-Went to the LHS Homecoming football game with Adam, Mark and Courtney (and Taylor & Sam for like 10 minutes) and then to Growlers to meet up with Storm and watch the Mizzou game. Fun stuff.

-BBQ at Cyndi's on Sunday afternoon, the highlight of which was watching Aimee play badmitton with a drink in her hand. Good times.

-Dinner with Phil Gill on Monday - mexican and good conversation makes for a delightful evening! I look forward to getting to hang out with Phil more while he's living 2 min away.

Wedding dresses and Bunco and Pirates, Oh My!

The past week has kind of been a blur. People have been telling me the week after Bike you just feel drained, and man, they weren't kidding. I was kind of brain dead most of the week - luckily there wasn't too much I had to do! To celebrate the end of Bike, we had ourselves a little party over at Paula's house. Good people, good food and good drinks made for a fun night! The only downside was the crazy amount of mosquito bites I got from sitting outside drinking - but I didn't notice this until the next day so it didn't dampen my spirits at all. :)

Saturday was busy. I started the afternoon with wedding dress shopping with Holly (and the rest of her entorage.) It was so fun watching her find the perfect dress - she just lit up when she got it on! She has asked for minimal pictures so that people can be wowed the day of (she won't disapoint!) so this is the only pic I'll put up from the experience... You do kind of get a glimpse of her though!

From wedding dress shopping I grabbed some dinner then headed to Sandra's for bunco. Not just any bunco though (which would have been fun of course) but benefit bunco. Sandra was raising money for the Young Cancer Network (, of which she is the founder. But I admit, I'd have hung out with her anyway. Sandra is one of the sweetest, most caring people I know and I'm proud to support her!
From bunco, I headed over to Storm's Talk Like A Pirate Day Birthday Party, which is exactly what the title says it is. It was fun to hang out with everyone and talk about the excitement of Kyle & Holly's upcoming wedding on the beach in Destin - our entire group from LHS is going plus some, so it's going to be a blast!! We were also discussing that last year, at this same party, Sam & Taylor announced that this little man would be coming soon (well, we didn't know he was a he yet, but you get the idea.)

Definately the cutest little pirate at the party! Poor Storm - always some kind of buzz going on at his party. Oh well. At least it's good news!

Sunday I pretty much sat on my couch and rested. I still needed to catch up on some sleep from Bike and it was just nice to sit and do nothing. Loved it.
October is notoriously busy for me, and this year is no exception. All kinds of good stuff coming up - Mike & Sara's wedding, Kyle & Holly's wedding, showers, birthdays, football and general fun. Oh, and Halloween! Did I mention I already put up my decorations? Cause I did. It's the first day of Fall, so that's totally acceptable. Right? Right.

I also wanted to mention that Mr. Lee Drury came to visit this weekend too! He joined me and some of my co-workers on Sunday night for dinner/drinks and it was fabulous to see him! Thanks, Lee, for making time to come hang out and catch up. I miss you!! (PS - we failed to take a picture during this brief but fun time. Sorry. I am happy to report Lee's side burns are not longer obnoxiously long and crazy. :))

Bike MS

This past weekend wasn't really a weekend. I spent it in Columbia for the 25th Anniversary Bike MS: Express Scripts Gateway Getway Ride 2009. Basically, over 3000 cyclists showed up at the Boone County Fairgrounds to ride and raise money to find a cure for MS. Let me tell you, it was crazy. I actually went down on Thursday (the ride was Sat and Sun) to help get everything set up and didn't come back until Monday afternoon. Overall, things went well I think. There were of course a few issues (first year at a new site that's a given) but most were not things participants see, so that was good. As a rookie staff member, I think I did a pretty good job. I knew my stuff, and if I didn't know I knew who to ask. Anyway, I'm glad to have it done - we've been talking about Bike since my first week at work (we were doing strategic planning for it) so it's nice to finally see what all the fuss was about. It was tiring and crazy but I still managed to have a little fun.

I have to say, thank GOD that it was Stephanie who went down with me on Thursday. She was my roomie the entire time and we were together for pretty much 96 hours straight and I didn't want to kill her. There's not too many of my co-workers I could say that about! Thanks Steph for making my weekend a little easier!

If you want to know more about the weekend, let me know. :)

Examples of Why My Summer Was Awesome

It's been a great summer. Tiger football starts today (!) then BBQ at Cyndi's tonight. Who knows what other fun stuff this last weekend of the summer will bring?

Birthdays and dinner and ice cream oh my!

This past weekend was simply awesome. It's really been a pretty awesome summer, I must say. Looking back over my posts, I've done a lot of fun stuff and I'm so thankful to have so many wonderful friends and family to spend time with.

Anyway, last weekend. Friday night it was wonderfully cool since it had rained that day and perfect football weather. I met Taylor, Sam, Max, Storm and Sam's parents at Fort Zumwalt South to watch the LHS Flyers play the FZS Bulldogs (Sam's alma mater.) Taylor loves high school football so this is why we were at a school that we don't actually know anyone anymore. We enjoyed the game despite feeling old :). Saturday I spent most of the day at home by myself reading. It was great. That evening I went to Ted Drewes with Krystal, who was in town to get more stuff to take back to KC with her. Yum! On the way home I headed to Wal-mart to do some grocery shopping and to pick up a few other items, including this most adorable outfit for Max:

Isn't he the cutest little tiger? I dropped by their house on Monday to give it to him and Sam was kind enough to send me this picture. Love it.

Back to my weekend. Sunday was fantastic. I got to go over to the Gill's house to celebrate Phil's 24th birthday. This is way exciting because I hadn't seen Phil in years and then discovered he is now living like 2 minutes away from me! Plus he hasn't been home for a birthday since he was in high school, so everyone was happy to be able to celebrate with him. I have missed my friend and look forward to being able to spend more time with him until he goes to grad school next year. So fun.

After Phil's party, I headed over to Mel & Greg's for dinner with them and Dan and KC and for a mini-celebration of Olivia's 1st birthday. Greg made kabobs with steak and chicken and yummy veggies and I brought potatotes. It was delicious! I loved being able to see the improvements the Finleys have done to their house and to hang out and visit with everyone. Such a perfect end to a lovely weekend.
