Weekend fun

This weekend was Mardi Gras in St. Louis, which for me translates to wearing beads, a little drinking, and friends coming to visit! I missed the parade this year because I had to work our Walk MS Kickoff, but I still got to hang out and celebrate. Kickoff went fine, btw, and I went and looked at some condos with Jamie afterwards and didn't find anything worth writing to you about. *sigh* The search continues. Still. Blah.

Anyway.

After condo shopping, I went to meet up with Kim, Paige and Brian (Paige's bf) who were in town to visit and for Mardi Gras! YAY!

We went to dinner at the Babylon in St. Peters with a bunch of Paige's family, and then everyone went back to her brother Christopher's house to play poker. This is like a bi-weekly event in Paige's family that I have been hearing about for years now, so it was fun to finally see it in action. Seriously, most of her family comes out to play - there were at least 20 people there! It was interesting putting faces with stories I've heard, and to finally meet some of the people that Paige loves so much. Plus they're so nice and welcoming, it's not long before you feel like you've known them for years. So with that said, I would have enjoyed being at poker night even if I didn't BEAT EVERYONE and GET 1ST PLACE! I was pretty proud of myself for beating 15 people, 13 of which I had never played with before. I got skills, man. Lee taught me well. I told them I'd be happy to come over and take their money any time. lol. Fun night. I miss those girls!

Today I went to church with my mom and Bill, and they went to go see Morgan and Bill's mom and dad, so I am home by myself for awhile. :) Back to work tomorrow to prepare for a really busy first week of March, and soon we'll be shopping for stuff for Sam's baby shower! Spring is definately coming.

Happy birthday

Today is my 26th birthday! Its been a pretty good day - I got woken up kinda early, but it wasn't too bad since I got to take a nap this afternoon. I also got a massage today (my present from my mom) and went out to lunch with her and dinner with my dad. Nice and relaxed. I also got lots of happy birthday calls/messages today, which made me feel loved! :) Friday night was my birthday party at Growler's (pictures of the wonderful people there with me below or on facebook), and that really was a blast. Thank you everyone who came for making it so much fun! I loved hanging out with everyone and even did a few shots to celebrate. (Don't worry, I didn't drive home.) Cupcakes turned out good too - I did the actual mixing of the batter and put them in the oven and my mom took them out and iced/decorated them for me (which in my opinion was the harder part!) They were yummy.

Valentine's day was pretty uneventful, but that evening I went to meet Taylor for dinner at Syberg's with Sam and Storm, which was fun. I also took a tour of the KMOV station for the second weekend in a row (Storm missed it last week), and Sam and I joked that this is now our weekend thing. :) Sunday I went over to Sam & Taylor's for awhile to watch the Daytona 500 (which Taylor is the only one who really watched) and hang out. Sunday night Mom and Bill were at his parent's house, so I was actually home by myself for like 3 hours, so I enjoyed the rare solitude it while it lasted.

So there you have it. The highlights of my wonderful 4 day weekend. Now I have a 4 day work week then Mardi Gras!

Day off!

As I write this, I am sitting in the recliner at home in my bathrobe and pajamas accompanied by Sally having a bit of a lazy morning. That's right - I took today off! It's kind of strange because its the first day I've taken off from my new job, and I keep thinking about stuff that I need to finish/accomplish upon my return to work. It was a busy week, so there is still stuff that needs my attention! lol. It'll still be there on Tue. hehe.

This weekend is going to be GREAT. Not only is it a 4-day weekend since Monday is President's day, but Monday is also my 26th birthday! Yay! My party is tonight though, since most people are busy tomorrow night with Valentine's day. Come out to Growler's in Sunset Hills around 8:30 to celebrate with me! So tonight should be a blast. This afternoon I'm taking full advantage of my day off and going to Target to return a few things and going to visit Storm's new beagle puppy. Puppy time always makes the day a little more fun. I also may do a little organizing in my room today and some laundry, but that is not nearly as exciting as the other stuff! Oh, and Lindsey O. is coming in town, so she will be in attendance tonight, which I am really excited about. :)

I expect tomorrow will be a bit boring since I don't have v-day plans. Oh well. Sunday I think Sam and Taylor are having people over to watch the Daytona 500 (well, Taylor will watch it, the rest of us will just kind of pretend and hang out). And then Monday is my birthday, on which I will be getting a massage (thanks Mom!) and relaxing at home. I think I might be going out to dinner, too. I love my birthday weekend!

Holly and I have also started thinking about what we want to do for Sam's baby shower. It's not until the end of April, but we're busy girls and want to make sure nothing slips through the cracks. I'm excited and I know it will be here before I know it!

Next weekend is Mardi Gras in St. Louis, and I'm really excited because PAIGE AND KIM ARE COMING!!! Unfortunately its also our Walk MS Kickoff, so I'll have to spend like 3 hours working that Sat, but I'm really excited ot be able to see them! I miss them so much.

There's lots going on, so check back soon!

The search continues

So remember how I told you that I found a condo that I really liked? Well, someone else really liked it too and beat me to putting a contract on it! Bastards. Oh well. So the search continues. I've broadened my search to now include St. Charles, and went to look at a few condos out there yesterday. There was one that has good potential, I just have a few questions. So we'll see about that. Hopefully soon I'll be on my own again.

I already posted about Miss Morgan being born, so you can read about that below. I also went to a Maryland Heights Chamber of Commerce meeting on Thursday night, and met some new folks and talked to them about NMSS events. Good networking time. I also had to get a new phone this week because the speaker wasn't working on mine. Which is REALLY annoying if you've never had that happen before, especially when your phone doubles as your morning alarm. So AT&T switched it out for free for me, and I just uploaded the info I had backed up and it was good to go. Much nicer than having to re-program everything!

Morgan Adelle Briggs, Est. February 5, 2009

I would like to introduce you all to my newest (almost) niece, Morgan Adelle Briggs!

Morgan is my mom's boyfriend (of 14 years) Bill's grandaughter, so we've claimed her as ours. (Her dad is Danny, Bill's youngest son.) She was born on Feb. 5 at 12:08pm and weighed 7lbs 15oz. We of course think she's gorgeous. Here are some pics from visiting her in the hospital.

I look forward to watching her grow and develop her own little personality. I told Mom that they'll have to visit more now so that Morgan knows us. Or I'll just be appearing every so often so that she at least knows me!

Superbowl Sunday

It's Superbowl Sunday, and the Steelers are the new World Champions of football. Congrats to them - Warner and the Cardinals put up a hell of a fight though, so it was definately an earned victory. I'm glad they at least made it fun to watch. And, of course, my favorite part of the game is the commercials! (I was a marketing major, I can't help it.) Some of my favorites include the Coke commercial with the bugs, the 3D Sobe one, of course the clydesdales for ABI, and the Doritos one where good things happen when he crunches and then gets hit by a bus. (Maybe later I'll get bored and get you the links for those, but for now I'm just going to assume you watched and know exactly what I'm talking about.) I watched the game at Sam & Taylor's house with that gang, and we had a good time with lots of good food too.

It was also a good weekend for real estate! Not only did 2 of my friends put in an offer on a house, but I found a condo that I really like! Its in Olivette, 1178 sq. feet, has 2BR 1.5 bath, and is a townhouse style with walk-out particially finished basement (so 3 levels). I'll keep you posted, but this may be the one for me! So we'll see.

To follow up from my last post, we ended up getting about 8 inches of snow here on Tue. night. This meant that I didn't have to be at work till 12 on Wed, which was nice because the roads were cleared by then. We've had a few warmer days this week, so a lot of it has melted, but there's still a fair amount of snow piled along the sides of parking lots and such. Hopefully it'll be gone soon!
