December fun

Some pictures from the last few weeks:

For Christmas this year instead of getting them gifts, I took each of Nellie's girls out for a special day just them and me.  Reagan was first with a trip to the Zoo and Bob Kramer's Marionettes.

I took Hannah to an event at Purina Farms (complete with dog shows) and then to Lone Elk Park to visit the World Bird Sanctuary.

Danny.  Not a special day, but cute anyway.

Leslie + James

Saturday I had the pleasure of attending my cousin Leslie's wedding.  I like James and am happy to have him become an official member of our family.  The day seemed to go off without a hitch and Leslie said the day was perfect, which is really all that matters.

Here comes the bride... :)

James is Scottish so they had bagpipers and the men in his immediate family wore kilts.
Very cool.

Mrs. & Mrs. McQueen

There was a huge (like 5 hour) gap between the ceremony and reception so I met up with Nellie and the kids and went to Costco for some food and shopping.  Soon it was time to head to the reception at the Franklin Room in Soulard.  The reception was fun and I enjoyed hanging out with family.  There were lots of highlights, but I was really excited to get this picture with both of my aunts on my Dad's side.  Aunt Pat is my dad's older sister and Aunt Sue is my late Uncle Bill's wife who lives in Virginia.  I don't often see both of them at one time and they're getting older so moments like this are special.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

This weekend I put up my Christmas tree and lights.  I love this time of year and the decorations really put me in the mood for the holiday season!  As an added bonus I got to talk to my friend Scott, who lives out in CA, while I put up decorations.  I hadn't talked to him in awhile so it just made the evening that much better.

Girl Scout Bowling

Today we took Troop 3162 bowling at Harvest Lanes.  The girls had a blast and did a great job taking turns to bowl.  They enjoyed dancing to the music they played, eating pizza and of course earning a patch.

Ready to bowl!
They turned on the "star bowling" lights and played lots of music which the girls loved.
Nellie took lots of photos of them bowling because their poses were hilarious!

Not too shabby!

All but one of the troop members were able to make it - successful outing for sure!

Happy Thanksgiving 2012

My Thanksgiving holiday has been pretty good thus far.  It started out Wednesday night with drinks at Biggie's with the gang as per tradition.  I will say though this year was way more tame than last year as no one was a drunken mess this time around.  (Signs we're getting old I guess!)

Thursday I had lunch with my siblings and Grandma at my house first.  Kristen got the food from her work and we pretty much just had to heat everything up.  It was pretty good.  I was aggravated with my sister for showing up and hour and a half later than planned to start cooking so we ate late but it wasn't a big deal in the end.  I just wanted to beat her for awhile!  Brian also came by to eat with us and it was really nice to see him and visit for awhile.

Can we talk about how I got screwed in the height department?  Kristen has on heels but is still a good 3 inches taller than me without them...

Bri and I

After lunch I headed over to Aunt Pat's to see Dad's side of the family for awhile.  It was good to see everyone and get in some baby snuggles.  :)
Makenlee, almost 5 months

I did a little Black Friday shopping yesterday, had dinner with my mom and went over to Nellie's for an evening of appetizers and drinks with my girl friends.  It was a lovely evening and I really enjoyed seeing everyone and eating the yummy food.  I hope to see you all again soon!!

Leslie's bachelorette

My cousin Jeff's daughter, Leslie, is getting married next Saturday, December 1 (so my 2nd cousin, right?)  I had the pleasure of attending her bachelorette last weekend.  We started at River City Casino with dinner at the Beer House.

After dinner we headed to Jumpin' Jupiter for a little eye candy and drinks.

Someone got a little drunk and was dancing/yelling in the street :)
Mission accomplished.

Paige & Bryan's wedding

The second weekend in November I had the pleasure of attending Paige and Bryan's wedding in Arkansas.  It was deep in my old Philip Morris territory (and therefore in the middle of nowhere) so at least I had a clue where we are going!  It was a bit of a nostalgic drive and made better by the fact that I picked up Danielle on the way and we rode together.

Since we were in no hurry to get to Horseshoe Canyon Ranch (where we were staying in cabins and the reception site) Danielle and I detoured through Branson to see the Christmas lights, have dinner and do a little shopping on the Branson Landing.  I really enjoy Danielle's company and wish she lived closer so we could hang out more.  (She and her fiance live in Steelville, MO.)

Ozark Mountain Christmas!

Notes on the table during dinner at Garfield's.

After getting to ranch and saying hello to everyone we went to bed kind of early because Saturday was a full day of wedding stuff.  After helping decorate, Danielle, Lauren and I went over to Paige's cabin to help her get ready and prepare for the day.

The ceremony was at Sam's Throne, which is a spot at the top of Mt. Judeau.  It is a long, winding drive up the mountain and then we hiked about 1/4 mile to the ceremony site.  In wedding attire.  It was windy but gorgeous!  We really lucked out with temps in the upper 60s that weekend.

After the 50 minute drive back to the ranch, we had a yummy dinner, drank some wine and danced the night away.  I think the photographers got some great shots at the reception but my phone was dying so I didn't get any good ones.

Sunday morning Danielle and I said our goodbyes and drove to Springfield to meet up with Abi and her family along with Kim, Lauren and Matt for lunch at Steak N Shake.  It rained our entire drive back to STL and I was so tired I was in bed by like 8pm.  Great weekend with friends.  Congrats to Mr. & Mrs. Schillig!
