V's bachelorette

As previously mentioned, Saturday night was Vanessa's bachelorette party.  We started out at Aimee's house for drinks and snacks before dinner.  We all got our shirts on and cut out the necks (so much more comfortable) and then headed for Schlafly Tap Room for dinner.

Dinner was delicious though I wish I would have just gotten a larger version of the side salad I got because it was way better than the sandwich it accompanied.  Conversations were great and I enjoyed talking with everyone.  After dinner we headed to the landing and the Big Bang (piano bar).  After not being there for years I was there 2 nights in a row - kinda crazy.  I paid to get V up on stage with the other bachelorettes and got her a song played of her choice (I Touch Myself).  She got a little tipsy (as you should at your bachelorette) and I think everyone had a good time.

I got home around 2:30a and headed to bed after putting some ice on my legs because during the party my previously mentioned sunburn was starting to make it's presence known!  It was a fun night!

Memorial Day Weekend '12

My Memorial Day weekend was pretty great this year with the exception of having to work Monday for awhile.  It started out Thursday night with a pizza picnic at the park with Nellie and the kids followed by ice cream at Yo My Goodness and hanging out at their house for awhile.  Perfect start to the weekend.

Hannie is quite pleased with her ice cream.

Reagie is sad that she choose her ice cream based on color instead of taste.

Friday I was off and treated myself to go see the Hunger Games in the theater - if you go before noon on a weekday it's only $6 at Weherenberg theaters - and it didn't disappoint.  I thought it was pretty close to the book and I am looking forward to the next one.  I also got my plates transferred to the new car and was very pleased to spend less than 30 minutes in the DMV on the last Friday of the month before a holiday weekend at 2pm.  Best DMV ever.  I also went looking for new tennis shoes but was unsuccessful in finding a pair.  Friday night I hung out with Dan, Chris, Tucci, Suzanne and Ben down on the landing - Big Bang (which I hadn't been to in forever) and Big Daddy's.  Good times with great people.

Saturday the condo pool opened so I headed out to enjoy the sunshine.  The water was cool and refreshing - perfect pool day really.

My sister and Devin asked if they could join me and came over to swim for awhile too.  I had a bit of a sunscreen fail and burnt the heck out of my shins (other places too but not nearly as badly) but otherwise it was a really great afternoon.  Saturday night was Vanessa's bachelorette but I will post about that separately.  I will, however, note that I was out on the landing and got home after 2:30a two nights in a row. See, not too old yet!

Sunday I spent a lot of the day babying my sunburn and being kinda lazy.  (PS - it's really hard to explain to your cats that they can't rub against your legs or lay on them.)  I also went to Costco to pick up a few things and Wal-Mart for aloe (I haven't bought aloe for a sunburn in years but my legs were on fire!) and a few other things like a new Mizzou license plate frame for my new car.  When I got home I put plates on my car, did a little laundry and started a craft project while watching tv.  I also hung up my flag to honor and thank our veterans for their sacrifice.

Monday I worked a Trailnet ride with Traci and while I was not  pleased to have to work that day I did enjoy hanging out with Traci at least.  After I got home I took a quick nap then showered before going over to Krystal's mom's house for a bbq.  I didn't think I would see her while she was in town so I'm glad we got to hang out for awhile.  I did some cleaning when I got home and the weekend was suddenly over.

I hope you had a restful holiday weekend and thank you to all of our veterans for protecting our country!

Mr. & Mrs. Hill

After MuckRuckus on Saturday I had the pleasure of attending Mark & Courtney's wedding reception.  (I couldn't make the ceremony with the event being so far away - bummer.)  The reception was lovely and awesome and Courtney was simply gorgeous in her dress.  I was pleased to get my 2nd wind upon arriving and getting a drink and loved hanging out and dancing with everyone.

The Hills

I've been friends with Mark since high school and could not be happier that he found such an awesome partner in Courtney.  They're both so fun and totally deserve each other - though I'm pretty sure they're never going to be on time to anything ever again. :)  When they first started dating, I remember sitting in Kyle and Holly's living room after the halloween party (which Courtney had attended) and getting the 'scoop' on what was going on and to of course debrief the party.  He told us about her (I had met her a few times at parties, etc. but didn't know her very well) and how awesome she was.  I knew he must really like her when he brought her to the group's Christmas party a few weeks later - just "us" instead of a big party.  She fit right in and became everyone's friend - not just Mark's girlfriend.  It's been fun to watch their relationship grow and see them grow closer as a couple.  This is just the beginning of a beautiful life together and I am honored to have been a part of their day.

Cheers to Mr. & Mrs. Mark and Courtney Hill!

Mother's day, baseball and MuckRuckus

For Mother's day this year, the entire extended family on Mom's side met for dinner at the Blue Owl in Kimmswick, MO.  It was lovely to see everyone and walk around the town for a little bit.  Thanks Mom for all you do for me!

Monday I went to the baseball game for MS Night at the Ballpark - and I got to go for free!  The Cards didn't win but we still had a great time.  Nellie declared that the accessible seats are the most comfortable she's ever sat in at Busch.  They're pretty roomy.  :)

Tuesday I got my hair cut and colored - and not a minute too soon because it was looking a little ragged.  Katie did a great job as usual.  The rest of the week was pretty tame, especially for an event week.  Saturday I was up at 4:15a to get ready for MuckRuckus MS (formally Mud Run MS) at Cedar Lake Cellars in Wright City, MO.  It was damn f-ing early.  The event went well overall though and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.  I managed to only get a little bit sun burnt and now have a nice base tan to work with (ok, at least lots of freckles.)

Baby Q's shower and Hayden turns 1

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of attending Hayden Koeltzow's 1st birthday party and helping throw a baby shower for Aimee.  It was a busy day but a lot of fun.

I started the day early so that I could go get a pedicure.  I have a wedding this weekend, then it's memorial day weekend (hello pool!) then another wedding so I needed my feet looking good for sandals.  After a little "me" time (with 10 strangers) I headed out to Aimee's house to decorate for the shower early.  I ordered a custom banner from my friend Kerry, which I was really pleased with because I can re-use the welcome baby part and gave the "Quirin" portion to the family for the nursery since it matches the theme.  I also build a rainbow out of balloons (thank you NMSS for this skill) and put up some streamers, die cuts, table decorations, etc for more of a party feel.

I forgot how long it takes to do this without a team of volunteers to help!
Everyone was impressed by though it so I guess it was worth it. :)

After I finished decorating I headed to the park for Hayden's party.  It was fun to see everyone and celebrate Emily and Paul's little cutie.

Props to Emily for  having this be a pretty quick party and recognizing that her child would be done with everyone around 2:30 and need a nap.  I headed out around 2 and didn't miss any of the important stuff.  He was totally not into the cake smash though - doesn't like his hands to be sticky/dirty!  He missed out - it was delicious (and adorable) cake shaped like a monkey.

After the party it was back to Aimee's to help set up for the shower.  Cyndi brought delicious food and favors and Nellie set up onesie decoration for all.  We played a trivia game (Aimee and Andy are trivia fans) and opened gifts.  Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves so I would call the shower a success.  Baby Q cleaned up!

Favors - frosted glasses with candy.
Winning trivia team also got coasters made by me for which the picture didn't turn out.

After most people left a few of the close friends just hung out for awhile talking and cleaning up.  It was nice to chill and we ended up staying way later than planned!  Nellie brought Danny, who was happy to be passed around and fawned over.  Andy even got in on the action and got some baby smiles as a reward.

He's going to be such a good daddy

All in all it was a great day with great friends!

Friday, May 11, 2012

It has been a crazy week.

Sunday night I got to hang out with Abi and meet Miss Anna.

We had a delicious dinner and I enjoyed hanging out with her.

Monday I found out my car was being totaled out (sad face) so there was a lot of talking with insurance people and cleaning out my (old) car and the like.  I took a moment to say goodbye to the Fusion because it had been a great car for me.

Bye friend.

Since I was now out a car, I had to find a new one.  Mom accompanied me to several dealerships and on a few test drives before I settled on one.  The dealership couldn't seem to find me another Fusion with a good warranty and within my price range, so I settled on this:

2012 Hyundai Elantra.  First non-American made car I've ever had as my primary vehicle besides rental cars.  It's a little smaller than the Fusion was but I think it will work well for me.  And the Dean Team gave me a great deal.  I am still getting used to it and the fact that it's my car now since I wasn't planning to buy a new one for another few years but I think it will be good.  People keep asking if I'm excited to have a new car - I really am just glad to have my transportation issues dealt with.

Tuesday we had a "staff outing" at a nearby park compete with drinks and karyoke and Qudoba.  It was a lot of fun and definitely one of our better "outings" - and it was a beautiful day.  Wednesday I picked up my car and hung out with Nellie and the kiddos for awhile.  Thursday was my friend Sara's 30th birthday so we went to River City Casino and had dinner and the buffet and gambled a little.  I think I ended up $1 in the hole - not too bad.

I'm off today (horray!) and got to sleep late and have been pretty lazy.  I put in a load of laundry and some other cleaning awaits me.  Tomorrow is pretty busy and Sunday is Mother's Day so best to get it done now.  Happy Friday!

Recent happenings

My car got attacked by hail last weekend.

poor car.

It has been sitting at the repair shop for a week now and the damn adjuster hasn't even called yet about it.  I luckily have a rental car, but I would really like to know what's going on with repairs, etc so we can get this show on the road.  I want my car back!

I went to two showers last weekend too - baby shower for Amanda and wedding shower for Vanessa.

Wednesday I got to have dinner with the Finleys and got to snuggle with baby Anna for a little bit.
Anna Elise - 7 weeks old

She is such a little chunky monkey and I love it!  Her cheeks are just precious.  Mel made a lovely dinner of stuffed shells and I enjoyed hanging out with them.  Thanks for having me over!

Thursday I worked a luncheon at work and a meeting that evening for Bike MS before heading to the party store to pick up a few things for Aimee's baby shower next weekend.  Friday night this week I walked over to Nellie's house (ps - it did not cool off much after the sun went down Friday. Weather fail for me) and then went to Walmart with her and the kids after hanging out a bit.

Saturday I ended up not having to work (YAY) so I spent most of the day being lazy.  Since it was Cinco de Mayo, there were of course drinks and mexican food.

Such a fun night.  Today I'm having dinner at the Hagy's and meeting Abi's baby Anna for the first time.  So excited!

Happy Sunday!
