Spirit Festival, wedding festivities and other May fun

It's Memorial Day weekend and the unofficial start of summer - thank you to all the veterans who have served and given their lives for our freedom!  My flag is hanging proudly in the front window this weekend.  Have you hung yours up?

Last weekend I was supposed to be working MuckFest MS for work, but since our site was under water I unexpectedly had the day free.  Nellie and I were going to take the girls to Lindbergh's Spirit Festival (a sure sign summer was coming when I was a kid) but she wasn't feeling very well so I took Reagan and Hannah myself.  They had a blast riding the rides, checking out the booths and of course riding the bus to our car.

That Sunday I attended my cousin Danny's daughter Emily's bridal shower.  It was warm but fun to see all the family for a little while.  That evening I hung out with Nellie and the kids for awhile and my weekend was suddenly over.

I of course worked during the week and then Friday Nellie and I surprised Hannah and had lunch with her at school.  She was happy to see us and we felt like celebrities with all of our Daisies saying hello.

Saturday I had the pleasure of attending Max's 4th birthday party.  It was super fun to see some people I hadn't seen in awhile and of course get to snuggle with lots of babies.  Max is such a good, sweet boy and I loved celebrating with him!

Saturday night was Emily's bachelorette party.  We had dinner at Hard Rock Cafe and then went out for drinks.  I didn't even attempt to keep up with the 23 year olds on the drinking-out-all-night front so I called it an evening pretty early.  Wedding is in just 3 weeks - congrats Emily!

Today I went to church, took a nap and read outside with the kitties.  They were thrilled to be outside!

Tomorrow I have a bbq to go to and that's about it - which is fine with me since I will be working Challenge Walk all next weekend!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms!  You have the hardest job and I know you're doing your very best every day.  I took gooey butter cake from St. Louis Gooey Butter (snickers!) over to Mom's for breakfast before church.  I kept Mom company while she finished getting ready and opened her gifts.

Mother's Day gift I made Mom in like 1st grade.
Clearly it was a winner as she's still got it on the fridge.  :)

We went to church at her church and then went to lunch with my grandma at Crazy Bowls & Wraps.  It was yummy as usual.  I did some work around the house when I got home and went for a jog.  Man, a few weeks off and terrible spring allergies really make for unpleasant workouts.

Yesterday I attended Hayden Koeltzow's 2nd birthday party.  He's such a cutie and his parents are amazing.  I loved seeing everyone and celebrating this little guy!

Train trip and baseball

Yesterday I had a super fun day.  It started with Nellie and I taking Reagan on her birthday trip to Washington via train.

Waiting for the train to come in Kirkwood.

All aboard!

Coloring pictures with her new coloring book and glitter crayons.

With the train conductor.

Determining where to go first.  She immediately declared, "Washington is beautiful!" upon exiting the train station.

Playing on the caboose in the park

New hair bow and lunch at Cowan's

Candy from the Fudge Shoppe

Waiting for the train to head back home.

She loved her day.  Nellie and I also found an awesome resale shop (where we got the hair bow) where she got some great deals.  Reagan loved it because they had a play area for kids while the parents shopped.  Win-win!

That night I went to the ballgame with my friend Molly.  Shelby Miller pitched an almost perfect game and the Cardinals beat the Rockies.  Awesome!

View from our seats - for $15!

Microfest and the first week of may

The first week of May was busy as usual and packed with lots of fun stuff.

Our Daisy troop did crafts in preparation for our Mother's Day tea party.

Thursday I got a pedicure and ate ice cream for lunch as well as ran some other errands.  That evening I hung out with Nellie and the kids at the craft store and then we went to O'Charley's for dinner.  Nellie and I had to eat ice cream on principle in front of the kids since they didn't eat their broccoli/dinner.

I got to hang out with Abi, Gus, Anna and the rest of the Hagys for dinner Friday.  It was great to catch up with them!

Anna loves her sunglasses.

Saturday I attended Microfest, a micro brew taste testing festival in Forest Park with Aimee, Andy, Cyndi and Adam.  It was fun trying all the beers and hanging out.  I made pretzel necklaces to cleanse the pallet.

Afterwards we went to Mission Taco Joint.  Pretty good food!

Aimee on the way in... sad we are already drinking without her.

Sunday I went to church and then that evening Nellie came over to help me put together the table and stools I got at Hobby Lobby on Tuesday.  It turned out great...

...for like an hour until one of my cats scratched it.

Now it has a table cloth on it.  Sigh.

I also got some new sunglasses.
