Where to start

Um, hey.

Where do I even start?  I haven't posted in months and so much has happened.  Trips.  Hanging out with friends.  Sporting events.  Birthdays.  It was a pretty awesome summer.  Perhaps someday I'll tell you about it.  Maybe.

The last two months have been a roller coaster full of ups and downs.  Good news first.  John and I got engaged Labor Day weekend (August 31 to be exact!)  We went to dinner at Llywellyns, got ice cream and walked around Frontier Park listening to a jazz band.  He suggested we find a bench and after letting me sit there forever awhile, he got down on one knee and proposed.  I said yes and am now in full on wedding planning mode.  We set the date for June 27, 2015 and I'm super excited.  I moved most of my stuff out of the condo and it went on the market at the end of Sept.

Good thing because on Sept. 23 I lost my job.  My position was eliminated due to budget cuts and my last official day on the payroll for NMSS was Oct. 1.  While I and the rest of the staff were pretty sure layoffs were coming it's still a shock to find yourself without a job.  John and I are dealing with it and I am diligently looking for a new job.  Should you know of anything that might be a good fit for me please let me know.  On the plus side it gave me plenty of time to get the condo ready to go on the market since I wasn't required to be in the office every day for the remainder of my time as a full time employee.

My unemployment happened to coincide with my mom having knee surgery so she was off work for the first 3 weeks of my unemployment.  This meant we spent quite a bit of time together and she was very helpful with the condo and getting wedding planning going.  We even found a wedding dress for me!  We bought it off the rack so it was half price - score!  We did that the same day I applied for unemployment so it was kind of a strange day but ended well.  :)

The plus side to being home all the time is things are definitely getting done around the house.  I've totally unpacked the stuff that came from my house (save organizing the filing cabinet in my office as I am dreading that project), reorganized closets, started taking down wallpaper in the kitchen.  The house is also reasonably clean, the bed gets made and laundry generally doesn't pile up.  Wedding stuff is getting done too.  We are also eating at home more because there isn't much excuse to not cook when  you're home most of the day.  Also, daytime television is terrible.

My cousins Pam and Amanda also took some engagement pictures for us and I created a wedding website.

Lots more on Facebook should you want to check them out.

We are planning a big trip to Phoenix and the Grand Canyon in November - and we're driving since John has 10 days off.  I would have too, you know, were I still employed.  ;)  Wish us luck!
